Loose Nut Lenny & Lip Shitz Lou Ann

Switchback’s fictional masters of good intentions and terrible execution. Lenny has never met a bad idea he couldn’t make worse. Lou Ann can explain exactly why it will work—usually while it’s falling apart. Together, they try harder than anybody. Thinking it through is where the trouble starts.

Two heads. Zero good ideas.

Episode 1: The Grand Opening That Wasn’t

Lenny announced that he and Lou Ann would arrive at Switchback on a freshly polished motorcycle with a homemade banner and a “professional grand entrance.”

“People remember a grand entrance,” he said.

“They remember a tow truck, too,” Lou Ann replied. “Let’s aim higher.”

Lou Ann made the banner: WELCOME TO SWITCHBACK—WE FIX YOUR MISTEAKS.

Lenny studied it. “You spelled mistakes wrong.”

“That’s the demonstration model.”

The bike that wouldn’t cooperate

They spent forty-five minutes polishing the bike and another twenty trying to start it. Lenny blamed the battery, the weather, and a government conspiracy involving ethanol.

Lou Ann put her ear against the tank. “I think your fuel pump’s asleep.”

Lenny knocked on it. “WAKE UP. WE GOT PLACES TO BE.”

Then Lou Ann noticed the kill switch.

“Well, there’s your problem. You’ve got it set to don’t.”

“It ain’t labeled don’t.”

“Neither are half your ideas, but they ought to be.”

A grand entrance, technically

Once the bike started, Lou Ann tied the banner to two broom handles on the trailer. Lenny decided the shop needed balloons, too.

“How many?” she asked.

“All of ’em. We’re professionals.”

At the first stop, a gust folded the banner over Lenny’s face and sent the balloons into the trees. Lou Ann tried to retrieve one with a broom, hooked her own purse instead, and scattered peppermint candies across the parking lot.

A passerby asked if they needed help.

“No sir,” Lenny said from behind the banner. “This is a promotional event.”

They finally reached Switchback with one balloon, two bent broom handles, and a banner that now read WE FIX YOUR STEAKS.

Lou Ann fired the confetti cannon to save the moment. She was holding it backward.

Lenny emerged wearing enough glitter to be visible from Tennessee.

“Good news,” she said. “Nobody’s gonna forget us.”

The shop wasn’t open yet. They had come on the wrong day.

A 30-second silent cartoon: Lenny and Lou Ann attempt a grand opening and everything backfires.

“We didn’t fail,” Lenny declared. “We had a practice opening.”
Lou Ann nodded. “And now the broom’s got roadside assistance.”

Next time: Lenny discovers a torque wrench. Lou Ann discovers it isn’t a microphone.
